Homemade Christmas Treats

For christmas 2012 I decided I wanted to make as many homemade gifts as possible. I really wanted to have a go at decorative sugar cookies inspired by the many wonderful ones I have seen on Pinterest. I also collected christmas recipes on my Pinterest Christmas Sweet Treats board too for other sweet gift ideas.

I also searched Etsy for gift wrap ideas. I found some lovely Christmas themed transparent bags, gingham red ties and wax paper from Verry Berry Sticker. I bought 12 plan silver tins for the sugar cookie from wholesale tin manufacturers Tinware Direct. They had the prefect size in stock so I could wrap and send the cookies to friends and family in the post. I was also lucky to find matching red gingham washi tape on a trip to Hobby Craf to decorate the tins with.

To protect the cookies while in the post I cut out over 100 corrugated cardboard circle, and over 100 red gingham & white wax paper cirles, stuck one of each onto the cardboard circle. Plus larger piece of card and wax paper for around the internal edeges of the tins. I'm glad to say all this work payed off as all cookies arrived unbroken in time for christmas.

Along with over 100 of sugar and chocolate cookies I baked and decorated, I made ginger marshmallows, amaretti biscuits, biscotti, hot chocolate on a stick, caramels, almond brittle, lebkuchen and mint chocolate buttons.

I was so happy with all my christmas sweet treats for all my friends & family, it was a lot of work and planning but totally worth it. The best part was that they all loved their yummy christmas gifts, I would love to do it all over again for them next christmas.
